LIVE IN WITHERNSEA

In March 2004 RadioActive broadcast on 107.3FM live from Withernsea for 3 weeks. A room in Withernsea Youth Centre was transformed into a professional radio studio. There were 40 young people presenting their own shows from the breakfast show through to the evening sessions.

THE BROADCAST

The presenters were in charge of planning their show. They were encouraged to select their own health trailers to transmit during their shows but there were also various 'themed days' including bullying, drug and alcohol misuse, healthy eating, injury prevention, no smoking, physical activity and sexual health. During the 3-week broadcast there were also a variety of interviews and guests, from a local music teacher through to an exciting interview with the guys from Liberty X.

BBC Radio Humberside allowed RadioActive Withernsea 107.3 FM to use its national and local news bulletins - giving young people the chance to experience linking live to the news. The station also received a visit from Hirsty, Danny and JoJo from the Breakfast Crew at Galaxy 105 and BBC Radio Humberside (via its education BBC Bus) who offered advice and tips to many of the local young people participating and even went on air and had a go.
